What this is

Trade Goes On is a game where people trade physical things with each other. We run the board: we host the items, carry the pitches, and keep the record of what was traded. We are not a party to any trade, we never take possession of anything, and no money passes through us.

Who can play

You need to be 18 or older, and you confirm that when you sign up. One account per person. Keep your sign-in link to yourself.

Your items

You may only put something in play if you actually own it and can legally hand it over. Describe it honestly, including what’s wrong with it — the flaw disclosure is required for a reason. Your photos must be of the actual item.

The rules list what can’t be traded. We can remove an item, and suspend an account, if something breaks those rules or the law.

Trades are between you and the other player

When you agree a trade, that agreement is between the two of you. We don’t inspect, verify, appraise, insure, guarantee or escrow anything. We don’t promise that an item is as described, that it works, that it’s legally the other person’s to trade, or that anyone will turn up.

Meet in public. Inspect before you confirm. Use your own judgement — the same judgement you’d use meeting a stranger to swap something in any other context. If you confirm a swap that turns out badly, we can help you report the other player, but we can’t reverse the trade or make you whole.

The record is permanent

Completed trades enter both players’ histories and stay there. Neither party can delete or hide a completed trade. Journeys and item histories are public pages by design — that’s the point of the game. Don’t put anything in play whose history you wouldn’t want to be public.

No money, no prizes

There is no fee to play, nothing to buy, no points with value, and no prize. We don’t take a cut, because there’s nothing to take a cut of.

Behaving

Don’t harass people, don’t misrepresent your items, don’t try to move a trade off the platform to get around the rules, and don’t use this to launder, fence, or sell anything. We can remove content and suspend accounts at our discretion.

Our liability

We provide this service as it is, without warranties. To the fullest extent the law allows, we’re not liable for loss or damage arising out of a trade, a meeting arranged here, an item’s condition or legality, or anything another player does. Nothing here limits liability that can’t legally be limited.

Changing these terms

If we change anything material we’ll say so on this page and date it. Carrying on playing after that means you’re fine with the change.
